Re: Fake News Awards
Trump is a massive liar. And if the Fourth Estate hadn’t spent so much time fellating Obama, they might have some credibility right now to oppose the current president.

Re: Fake News Awards
regardless of ones opinion of the President his use of the fake news awards was a good move to point out media hypocrisy. Steadfast and studious reporting has gone the way of the dinosaur and in its place sits a tabloid click-bate and salacious articles that are quietly retracted after the fact.
Outrage culture of scream and accuse first then fact check only when you have to is not how any journalism should be done.

Re: Fake News Awards
That Trump has called the media an "enemy of the American people" is appalling.
I'd like to mention the many jounalists who have died in the pursuit of the truth. Some by circumstance and some by design.

The "if it bleeds it leads" attitude of the 80's and 90's gave way to the accusatory sensationalism of today. A reporters job currently (on the national level) is not to actually report events that are of importance to the public but grand stand in meetings hurling insults to try and achieve a paparazzi style response while expanding their own brand. The corporate ran media could be a 101 class in confirmation bias as an organization selects a side to take and works solely from that perspective all the while espousing how impartial and fair they believe they are.

Re: Fake News Awards
While I agree for the most part it would be reasonable to also recognise that much of the news is time sensitive.
The issue, and one which directly relates to the accounts of "fake' news, is that we see numerous articles from multiple sources reporting about any given situation based too often on what other journalists or agencies have issued simply because they need to have the most current accounts to stay read and relavent. This has obviously lead to intial incorrect statements or opinions being stated by others as fact simply because of the number of sources repeating stories in error and consequently leading to the sensational reporting and snowball effect that actually distorts and marginalises other facts that come to light later thus contributing to the so called 'fake' news.

Re: Fake News Awards
When major news agencies are caught obviously lying, this is not just an American problem, I remember watching an Australian station where they interviewed a woman and she openly discredited them live on air with proof. American media I believe is by far much worse but its not surprising after repeated incidents like this, that faith in the media is at an all time low.
Are they important and serve an essential point? Yup. Do they need a really hard wake up call and maybe a good old fashioned cleansing from top to bottom? Definitely.

Re: Fake News Awards
Donald Trump is not completley crazy with his intentions, he just goes about everything in the wrong way. For example in my country the National news Station never picks up on any edge cutting stories about the government, they are very pro government until something happens they use it as a big *special*. I think that there are great journalists out there and they want to write about the important things and not be dealing with this ciriticism but they are prevented from being fully independant by share holders and the narcissists millenium long quest for more MONEHH$$$
